From the news of the day

Hi all
The Knight Foundation has announced its 2009 grants. For five years the organization has awarded seed money for innovative journalism proposals. When you have a chance, take a look at what they are funding. I am center our presentation assignment around this instead. Don't worry, I know you have your hands full with the midterm right now.

On that front, I will post more detail information about the midterm on D2L later today. For now, though, remember it is a natural sound story, should be around 1:30 - 2:00 minutes, and have a lead in. I have not given you the instructions for posting video on your blog, so by Tuesday follow the directions on D2L and we will post your midterm in class. Have your story exported (in a .mov file not a .fcp file) and the lead in when you come to class.

Also, if you have a chance before Tuesday visit your classmates' blogs and click "Follow." You will see that Christine and I are already following you.

Finally, Emily emailed me the link to Nicolas Kristof, the New York Times journalist who travels Africa telling the personal stories of the big stories. Here is his multimedia page. I have not dived into those stories yet, but they look very interesting.

Alright everyone - here is wishing you good karma on the shooting front!
